I have decided to give my dear friends and family the benefit of the doubt. The holidays have been upon us and life gets busy, I know that. So, I am giving you all one more week to enter in a bid for the purse for Doctor's without Borders. I have received one bid for $10. I know that we can do better than that, we can do better than $10. Heck, that isn't even what it cost to make the purse.
So, the auction deadline has been extended to January 7, 2007. Let's make this a great way to start off the New Year!!!

Happy Holidays! I have been inspired by the Yarn Harlot and this post. So, in honor of Doctors without Borders, I am selling one of the purses I made this year and all proceeds will go to this worthy organization. The bag farthest to the left is the one that I am selling. I will take the highest offer that I get between now and January 1st.
I will let everyone know who bid the most (unless the buyer wants to be anonymous) and I will donate the money in their name.
Please feel free to email me with any questions and please email me your bid (kimborchertATgmailDOTcom)

The Knitters' TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
'Twas the night before Christmas and all around me
Was unfinished knitting not under the tree.
The stockings weren't hung by the chimney with care
'cause the heels and the toes had not a stitch there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds
but I had not finished the caps for their heads.
Dad was asleep; he was no help at all,
And the sweater for him was six inches too small.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I put down my needles to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, I flew like a flash,
Tripped over my yarn and fell down with a crash.
The tangle of yarn that lay deep as the snow
Reminded me how much I still had to go.
Out on my lawn, I heard such a noise,
I thought it would wake both dad and the boys.
And though I was tired,my brain was a bit thick,
I knew in a moment,it must be Saint Nick.
But what I heard then left me perplexed-ed,
For not a name I heard was what I had expected
"move,Ashford; move,Lopi; move,Addie and Clover
Move,Reynolds; move,Starmore; move, Fraylic--move
over"
"Paton, don't circle round; stand in line.
Come now, you sheep wool work just fine!
I know this is hard semi, it's just your first year,
I'd hate to go back to eight tiny reindeer."
I peered over the sill; what I saw was amazing,
Eight woolly sheep on my lawn all a'grazing.
And then,in a twinkle, I heard at the door
Santa's feet coming across the porch floor.
I rose from my knees and got back on my feet,
And as I turned round, Saint Nick, I did meet.
He was dressed all in wool from his head to his toe
And his clothes were handknit from above to below.
A bright Fairisle sweater he wore on his back,
and his toys were all stuffed in an Aran knit sack.
His cap was a wonder of bobbles and lace,
A beautiful frame for his rosy red face.
The scarf round his neck could have stretched for a
mile,
And the socks peeking over his boots were Argyle.
The back of his mittens bore an intricate cable,
And suddenly on one I spied a small label.
SC was duplicate stitched on the cuff,
and I asked "Hey Nick, did you knit all this stuff?"
He proudly replied "Ho-ho-ho, yes I did,
I learned how to knit when I was a kid."
He was chubby and plump, a quite well-dressed old man,
And I laughed to myself for I'd thought up a plan,.
I flashed him a grin and jumped up in the air,
And the next thing he knew he was tied to a chair.
He spoke not a word, but looked in his lap
Where I'd laid my needles and yarn for a cap.
He quickly began knitting, first one cap then two;
For the first time I thought I'd really get through.
He put heels on the stockings and toes in some socks
While I sat back drinking Scotch on the rocks!!
So quickly like magic, his needles they flew,
That he was all finished by quarter to two.
He sprang for his sleigh when I let him go free,
And over his shoulder he looked back at me.
And I heard him exclaim as he sailed past the moon
"Next year start your knitting sometime around June!

Now, I am off to the PO tomorrow to mail these to my dear friend Shannon. I hope she loves them as much as I do!!
Now, my brother pointed out that this isn't the best picture of the hats. It doesn't show the details and all that jazz. I'll get a picture of them up close, I promise. Just not tonight...I'm tired. I'll do it in the morning before I go to the PO. I was just very excited to show them!

I need more time!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I need more time for knitting! Why am I sitting at the computer?? Ugh. I am making a hat, then I need to do a bag and a pair of Fetching gloves. I really want to knit a sweater for A for Christmas. Her Christmas dress is short sleeved...it is freaking cold here! I just need more time! Why didn't I think of this in, say, SEPTEMBER?!?!? Ugh.
On the bright side, I have 2.75 of the 3 hats I need to make done. I've also cast on and almost finished the bottom of the final button bag I am making. I have some pictures to share with you also.
This is the tale of a sweater...
Once upon a time, there was a boy. This boy went to Ecuador for 2 years and brought back a sweater as one of his momentos. This boy didn't love the sweater...this sweater sat in a box for 7 long years.
This boy got married...he married a knitter. His lovely wife convinced him to get that sweater and let her "look" at it. Here is what happened...
She decided that something MUST be done with this sweater...how about Leg Warmers?

Perhaps a Poncho??

Oh no, how about 8 balls of lovely yarn and 2 sleeves that we will make into wall hangings???

Oh yes!!! This boy is very lucky to have a knitter as a wife. She saw something, something that sat in a box not being loved. She will now make it into a hat and a scarf to keep him warm on those chilly mornings as he goes to work. The sweater that he got as a momento will now keep him warm and he will feel the love...not just of Ecuador, but the love of his darling wife. ;)

I AM DONE! Do you hear me?? I am DONE!!!! :D:D:D Today was the boutique that I have been frantically knitting for. I took 5 purses with me and sold 3 of them. It's ok, because one of the ones that didn't sell my sister bought. So, of the 10 bags I made, I sold 9 of them! Not too shabby if you ask me! :)
Now I am making a couple hats for my friend Shannon and her boys. After I am done with those, I will have all of our Christmas cash for this year. It won't be much, but enough to get a couple things for each of the kiddos. I am so glad!!!
I am working on Jeremy's laptop right now and all my pictures are on the other computer (this one has hi-speed) so, I can't post any pictures, but I will.
I have lots of pictures to post. I have new yarn! Some of it I bought, and some of it came from Jeremy's Ecuador sweater. It is great wool and I can't wait to make him a hat and scarf with it. I am knitting Amelia some leg warmers..they are SO cute!!! But, my next project will be some of these fingerless gloves. I am doing them for a trade. She sent me 2 pairs of babylegs and I am sending those to her. I love my babylegs by the way. I want more, more, more!! I think Amelia wears them everyday!!! :D
Ok...back to the knitting of some lovely hats! :)
